Privacy and what is stored

Card numbers

We never see them. Class payments are taken on the payment processor's own secure page, and what comes back to this website is whether the payment cleared, the amount, and the last four digits of the card. There is nowhere on this server that a card number could be stored, because one never arrives.

Form data collected

• Contact form. Your name, business, phone, email, the property address if you give one, and what you wrote. Used to answer you and to quote the work.
• Class registration. Your name, phone, email, and any note you add. Used to seat you, to email your confirmation, and to build the roster the instructor takes into the room.
• Nothing else. There is no advertising network on this site, no tracking pixel, and no third-party analytics unless the business later turns on Google Analytics, which would be disclosed here.

IP address handling

Spam filtering and rate limiting need to know that two submissions came from the same place. The site stores a one-way hash of your address mixed with a secret instead of the address itself, which is enough to tell that two submissions match and not enough to rebuild a list of who visited, by us or by anybody who ever got hold of the database.

QR codes

Scanning a printed code from a flyer or a sign counts the scan and forwards you on. The record holds the count, the time, the browser string, and the same hashed address described above, which tells the office which flyer worked and nothing at all about where you go next.

Cookies

The public pages set one session cookie, which is what lets a form prove it was really loaded before it was submitted, and it is the only cookie a visitor gets. The staff area sets a login cookie that exists only for people who work here.

How long it is kept and how to have it removed

Messages and quotes stay until the office deletes them. Class registrations and their payment records are kept because they are a business record of money taken and a seat filled.
